KCIDY + Karaocake
Release Party
Whether it’s a public holiday or a weird pop mass, this November 11 celebrates both the release of KCIDY’s new album and the return of Karaocake.
KCIDY
KCIDY plays and composes incessantly, and naturally, all the upheavals she experiences are reflected in her music. Since the early 2010s, whether in collective experiments (Tôle Froide, Satellite Jockley, Memory Lane) or alone at the piano, her music has been an outlet. L’immensité et l’immédiat, her fourth LP, moves quickly and unreservedly recounts the swarm of reflections and observations of the world around her, between glam rock flights of fancy, Broadcast-style drums, psychedelic pop, and perfect cadences, all supported by chiaroscuro lyrics where lost hope always ends up resurfacing.
Karaocake
Long time no see, Karaocake. The last time was in 2011. Camille Chambon’s lo-fi synth-pop project returns with its pop melodies and the rough irregularity of its DIY synths. As a bass-drums-synth trio alongside Charles and François Virot (Clara Clara), Karaocake has abandoned Casio drum machines in favor of dub-tinged bass lines and cathartic chords over lyrics that explore depression and the ills of the world. It’s a project as unique as it is endearing, sure to draw out die-hard fans of Young Marble Giants, Broadcast, and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone from their homes.
