Harold López-Nussa + Celia Kameni & Mark Priore

Récif · Festival Jazz à Lyon

Harold López-Nussa

Harold López-Nussa is a gifted virtuoso whose joy is infectious. The island of Cuba is rich in musical families and great pianists. Harold López-Nussa ticks both boxes and has established himself as one of the most innovative musicians of the new generation.

Chucho Valdes, an influential figure in modern Afro-Cuban jazz, calls him “the vanguard of a new generation of musicians”. His music is the image of the island’s music: generous and singular, oscillating between jazz and popular music, inspired as much by Spain, the United States, Africa and the Caribbean. Prepare to be captivated by the moment of grace he offers us through his playing, in the breathtaking setting of the Chapelle de la Trinité.

Celia Kameni & Mark Priore

Celia Kameni‘s radiant voice blends with Mark Priore‘s virtuosity at the piano. It was in June 2023 that these two artists gave their first duo concert, instantly creating a shared palette of expression. This connection gave rise to the desire to continue this emotional and musical journey together. They compose on the spot, as if drawing with four hands, subtle impressions between jazz, pop and chanson.

Mark Priore stands out as one of the most promising talents in the world of contemporary jazz, receiving rave reviews for his virtuosity on the piano, as well as for his remarkable creativity and elegance.
Célia Kameni is a singer with a singular voice, somewhere between sensitivity and intensity. Citing Nina Simone, Feist and Björk as her main influences, the artist readily draws on the fields of spiritual, pop, folk and classical music to develop a style that skilfully blends improvisation, poetry and the depth of vibratory “singing”.
