daoud
At Club Transbo
By dint of doing nothing like the others, daoud has forged himself a reputation as an ugly duckling. He doesn’t mind upsetting the purists, but the Franco-Moroccan trumpet-player has modernity written all over him: his compositions, infused with hip-hop, r’n’b and electronic inspirations, give him a special place on the new jazz scene in which he has been evolving for several years.
Inspired by the absurd and a sense of inadequacy, daoud questions the norms of his musical milieu and lets himself be carried along by adventure. The result is bold, eclectic, joyful jazz that surprises and delights. Without ever losing any of his poetry or emotion, his music touches on everything and puts him right up there with the greats. She then takes to the stage to perform some extraordinary 10-handed shows with her talented musicians: Guillaume Prévost on drums, Louis Navarro on (double) bass, Étienne Manchon on keyboards and Félix Robin on vibraphone.
After winning over crowds at Jazz sur Seine, the Montreal Jazz Festival, India and opening for Erik Truffaz, daoud’s tour will tease the Récif festival in 2025.
