KUTU

Born in the underground nights of Addis Ababa, KUTU wonderfully blends the powerful, hypnotic voice of Hewan Gebrewold with the artistic curiosities and hypnotic trances of Théo Ceccaldi’s jazz and electro. Quickly joined by Cyril Atef on drums (Bumcello), Akemi Fujimori on cosmic keyboards (Naive New Beaters, Thomas de Pourquery) and Valentin Ceccaldi on bass, KUTU builds an explosive and unclassifiable sound universe.

An unprecedented, explosive mix of sounds, from traditional Azmari singing to blistering rap phrasing, from psychedelic violin to electro-punk beat, with cosmic keyboards, hypnotic bass and tribal rhythms.

Each performance is an overheated musical kaleidoscope, celebrating the meeting of cultures with irresistible energy. If KUTU already burns hot on record, the band becomes torrid on stage, transforming each concert into an unforgettable collective trance, carried along by a feverish energy where improvisation and trance are at the heart of their stage performance. to be experienced from the opening of the RÉCIF festival!
