Accident Fantôme

ACCIDENT FANTÔME is a collaboration between the bands Accident du Travail and Fantôme Josepha. Julie Normal (ondes Martenot), Josepha Mougenot (harp), Arnaud Marcaille (12-string guitar) and Olivier Demeaux (keyboards, organ, effects) come together in a village in the Meuse region in early 2025 for a week of creative work.

The recording takes place in a church housing a restored period organ dating from the 18th century. The silence of the hamlet and the venue’s distinctive reverberation – at once luminous and deep – allow for the capture of six hours of meditative, at times dissonant, music that unfolds over time.

The music evokes a cosmic force buried beneath the woods, in this geological massif of fossilised sponges, where the ghosts of the Great War are never far away. A mysticism without religion, made up of accidents, breath and life.

Josepha’s harp blends with the synths and keyboards of Accident du Travail; Arnaud’s 12-string guitar establishes a ghostly pulse. Drones and improvised contemplative chants alternate with evident simplicity. The result takes the form of a long, immersive ballad – fragile, deeply human and handcrafted in its creation – blending ambient, drone, gothic, sludge and more cinematic elements. Their debut album, Objets enchâssés sur un anneau planétaire, was released on 12 June 2026 on moli del tro records.
