mark william lewis + GRIVE
mark william lewis
mark william lewis is an artist who exists between the cracks. Over the past few years, Lewis has made a name for himself on the London music scene, with his performances and music becoming a word-of-mouth sensation. He eschews easy categorisation, plays with traditional songwriting conventions and creates music that is poetically vivid, visually striking, yet textually opaque. Writing songs that explore the intersection between intimacy and alienation, connection and disconnection, he is a singular and daring voice operating in a distinctly unique yet blurred space.
Lewis has received praise from Pitchfork and The Fader for his previous albums Sparkles 22-24 and Living, as well as for his participation in the song ‘Let’s Have A Ball’ by MIKE, a leading figure in New York rap, and his collaboration with Nina Crisante of Bar Italia on the song ‘Thinner.’
GRIVE
GRIVE was born from the meeting between Agnès Gayraud (La Féline) and Paul Régimbeau (Mondkopf, Oiseaux-Tempête). Together, the duo creates a unique sonic chiaroscuro, both incisive and meditative. Their debut album, Tales of Uncertainty, reveals dense, meticulously crafted compositions that combine edgy riffs and haunting melodies. GRIVE’s aesthetic draws on the fertile ground of the 1990s while plunging its roots into our own era. Their music evokes wide open spaces as well as liminal spaces and subconscious reveries. Between shoegaze and post-rock, GRIVE breaks free from labels to offer a distinctive sound experience.
In concert, GRIVE performs as a quartet, accompanied by Jean-Michel Pirès (Bruit Noir, Mendelson) on drums and Léa Moreau on keyboards. On stage, the band brings to life rich sound textures that combine electric tension and contemplative depth.
