Geordie Greep

After three stunning albums with the band black midi, and almost non-stop world tours for nearly five years, Geordie Greep (guitarist and singer with black midi) has found the time to record his first solo album, The New Sound – an album that has allowed him to explore creative ideas as never before.

Geordie Greep: “Recording ‘The New Sound’ was the first time I didn’t have anyone to answer to. And every idea I had, I was able to see through to the end. In a band (black midi), you often feel like you can do anything, but you’re also a bit limited by that approach, and sometimes it’s good to do something else, to let go ”.

Geordie’s debut solo album showcases a playful, ambitious and high-calibre form of alternative pop, the likes of which we haven’t heard in a long time, oscillating with disconcerting ease between the ridiculous and the brilliant.
