David August presents 99chants

For its second edition, S festival continues its exploration of Lyon’s Confluence district, setting out to take over the concert venues and cultural spaces that bring the neighbourhood to life. The circuit connects four venues well known to Lyon audiences: Le Sonic, Le Périscope, HEAT and Hôtel71.

Festival-goers are invited to wander between nine shows celebrating live music in all its diversity, from psychedelic jazz and experimental post-punk to electronica and pop. A sonic journey that continues late into the night. The full circuit can be found here.

Founder of the 99chants label, David August is an Italian-German composer, pianist, DJ and sound engineer. Born in Hamburg, he trained as a classical pianist before developing a distinctive approach combining electronic music, experimental composition and multidisciplinary art.

His musical projects explore movement, metaphysics and contemporary forms of electronic music, moving between neo-classical, ambient, dancefloor, dubstep, breakbeat, bass music and post-rock influences. With hymns (2026), he returns to the piano with an intimate work exploring memory, heritage and reconciliation. August continues to explore the intersections between sound, imagination and human experience.
