Geordie Greep

After making his mark on the international scene with the band black midi, guitarist and singer Geordie Greep is embarking on a new chapter as a solo artist with “The New Sound,” his debut album released on Rough Trade Records.

In this debut effort, recorded in part in Brazil with musicians brought together at the last minute, Greep dissects toxic masculinity and the fragility of modern men against a backdrop of Latin-Caribbean influences. It’s a melting pot of boldness distilled into unbridled alternative pop with no stylistic boundaries, spanning jazz, funk, and post-punk.

The spirit of Greep’s increasingly feverish and elusive soliloquies evokes both Frank Zappa and Frank Sinatra, with a healthy dose of Scott Walker sprinkled throughout.
