Ecko Bazz feat. Talpah
First spotted by the Ugandan label Nyege Nyege and its sister imprint Hakuna Kulala—a leading force in East Africa’s electronic and experimental music scene—Ecko Bazz has established himself as one of the most distinctive voices in East African rap since his cult EP Tuli Banyo (2018), challenging the conventions of a rapidly evolving scene.
Whether tackling violence, religion, drug addiction, or poverty in Kampala’s slums, this radically dark-energy MC allows himself every kind of vocal excess. Defying easy categorization, his sound blends grime, dancehall, and American hip-hop, driven by producers renowned for their rhythmic eccentricity, including Debmaster, Slikback, DJ Die Soon, DJ Scotch Rolex, and more recently STILL and Talpah, who produced his latest EP.
Talpah—born in 1999—will join him for this performance. Already recognized for releases and contributions on CLAM, Opal Tapes, and Hundebiss, his productions fuse psychedelic and abrasive sonics with ethereal ambient textures and post-apocalyptic soundscapes, violently dismantling the boundaries between dance music and hip-hop.
Long regarded as one of Hakuna Kulala’s fiercest voices, Ecko Bazz pushes his sound even further here, into fractured and unstable territory—essential listening for fans of incendiary rap, at the precise point where brutal dancehall collides with uncompromising noise.
Mona San
Drawing on the codes of popular music, Mona San challenges and reinvents the mainstream through an experimental, forward-thinking approach infused with both tenderness and brutality. The artist explores an identity that shifts from hyper-feminine to hyper-masculine, using sound processing as an extension of the self.
Her artistic universe unfolds through a myriad of futuristic, maximalist aesthetics, spanning pop, hyperpop, dancehall, and electronic music. Inspired by boundary-pushing artists such as Arca, Sega Bodega, and JPEGMAFIA, Mona San creates music charged with vibrant energy, where styles and textures collide to give each track its own unique character. Following the release of her six-track EP From The Ashes in 2025, she is now preparing her debut album, MONA, due in 2026. She notably performed at the latest edition of Nuits Sonores.
Li$on
A rising star of Lyon’s hip-hop scene, Li$on effortlessly blends cloud rap and R&B into a sound that is entirely her own. Drawing inspiration from American artists ranging from Avril Lavigne to Fall Out Boy and Linkin Park, she first grew up immersed in rock music before fully embracing hip-hop.
She first gained recognition in 2021 through a trilogy with producer Taemintekken: 5150, 5150 Pt. II, and The Great Shift. Passionate about art in all its forms, she places visual aesthetics at the heart of her artistic project, extending in images what she explores through sound.
Beyond sonic, sensory, and spiritual explorations, her lyrics delve into themes that matter deeply to her: the human condition, love and hatred, respect for all living beings, emancipation, finding light in darkness, and the many personal battles we all face.
