Earth Talk

Jointly initiated by saxophonists and composers Bo van der Werf and Stéphane Payen, Earth Talk explores the “Voices of the Earth” in a hybrid artistic form, at the intersection of sound poetry, concrete music, improvised music, and electronic experimentation.
The ensemble serves as a backdrop for Tamara Walcott’s libretto, which blends song, opera, and spoken word in several languages to create an ecological discourse of great poetic power. Combining acoustic and electronic textures, hallucinatory grooves, and instrumental improvisations, Earth Talk was born during Bo van der Werf’s residency as an associate artist at Le Petit faucheux. The six musicians develop constantly changing soundscapes that invite us to perceive the sounds around us in a different way.
- With Bo van der Werf (baritone saxophone, compositions), Lynn Cassiers (vocals, electronics), Benoît Delbecq (piano, electronics), Sarah Murcia (double bass, vocals), Stéphane Payen (tenor saxophone), compositions, Tamara Walcott (texts, vocals)
With the participation of scientists Nicolas Farrugia, Léa Mariton, and Samuel Loviton.
