Kabar Maloya – Ti’kaniki invits FAZAZ
Exceptional news coming up: Amazigh music from Morocco’s Middle Atlas meets maloya from Reunion Island, traditional music proudly showcased by the groups FAZAZ and Ti’kaniki!
FAZAZ
FAZAZ embodies the warmth of Morocco, the powerful sound of the lotar, haunting melodies, tragic poems, and trance-inducing rhythms. It is lively, contemporary music.
FAZAZ is also a trio born from the meeting between Guillaume Storchi and Léo Fabre-Cartier, a musician who has been dividing his time between Morocco and France since 2012. Léo trained with the master of the lotar, Younes Baammi, himself a disciple of the great Mohammed Rouicha, creator of this instrument in the 1970s and an emblematic figure of Moroccan music.
Finally, the cornerstone of this evening, singer Luna Dounia Nieto-Moumen—a globetrotter with a haunting voice, passionate about the songs of the Maghreb and also a member of Ti’kaniki—will form a true link between these two worlds.
Ti’kaniki
Ti’kaniki is a maloya group based in Lyon. Existing for over 10 years, the group is made up of Creoles and French musicians of diverse origins. They champion a modern maloya, open to the world and firmly rooted in tradition. Since its creation, the group has been involved in kabars (open Maloya stages) during which they invite a number of artists from Réunion (René Lacaille, Davy Sicard, Maya Kamaty, etc.), as well as artists from traditional music backgrounds.
