From 5 to 13 December 2020, the Periscope organised a week-long meeting of 7 European cities. Involved in the Jazz Connective project for 2 years, the Périscope hosted, in December 2020, the last stage of this cooperation project between artists, actors and audiences from the jazz and improvised music scenes. Each evening, artists from one city met and performed in a recorded or live streamed performance.

AlinaHipHarp Quintet
Internationally renowned harpist Alina Bzhezhinska has a strong reputation for innovation. For this exclusive performance for Jazz Connective, she creates a unique sound on the harp with effect pedals and electronics, featuring the innovative trumpeter Jay Phelps, supported by Mikele Montolli (bass), Joel Prime (percussion) and Adam Teixeira (drums). Through a combination of original works and covers, she pays homage to some of jazz, funk and hip-hop’s greatest innovators. Her quartet draws from a variety of influences, including the likes of Dorothy Ashby’s ‘Afro-harping’, Alice Coltrane’s spiritual outputs and elements of Afrobeat.’
