JiFLure

JiFlure is the crazy project of a DIY installation of two cardboard suitcases containing three mechanical thumb pianos constructed from hacksaw blades and skewers, powered and excited by windshield wiper motors. A set of vibrators, mechanical percussion, metronome, harmonica and radio complete the orchestra.

The resulting sounds are directly inspired by the thumb piano techno of Konono No.1. Yet they are the product of an entirely different artistic process, which has more in common with the installations of Frédéric Lejunter and Pierre Berthet or the mechaniums of Pierre Bastien.
