Bonbon Flamme

In partnership with RHINO Jazz Festival

With Valentin Ceccaldi, Luis Lopes, Fulco Ottervanger et Etienne Ziemniak

A new project from the hyperactive cellist Valentin Ceccaldi — co-founder of the Tricollectif and a member of a plethora of ensembles (including, to name but a few, Kutu, Lagon Nwar, and a duo with Leila Martial) — Bonbon Flamme brings together a band of unrepentant explorers of improvised, adventurous and eccentric jazz, with Mexican influences.

Tangy and spicy, inspired by the flavour of lemons and the mystical atmosphere of the Dia de los Muertos, such is the new flavour — and new album, released on the BMC label — of this quartet with furiously surprising and utterly delightful flavours, formed with drummer Étienne Ziemniak (Vocuhila, The West Lines, Carnalisme), pianist Fulco Ottervanger (De Beren Gieren) and the inimitable Portuguese guitarist Luis Lopes (Humanization 4tet).

Exploring our relationship with our ancestors as well as the power and energy of the present, the four musicians invite you to a pagan celebration that honours contrasts — from tender caresses to hard punches, from chaos to warm embraces — for a moment that is both sensitive and furious.
