Supergombo

Following the success of the Sigitolo mission, Supergombo is secretly preparing a new adventure under the BELKA label.
Their Afro-futuristic spaceship is preparing to explore a galaxy where Indian Ocean culture has evolved into a unique fusion of sounds. Upon arrival, they discover a civilization where the saleg of Madagascar blends with the surreal tempos of the tsapiks, all orchestrated with a sophistication reminiscent of the futuristic soundscapes of Giorgio Moroder, Joe Zawinul, Kavinsky…
Carried by the voice of David Doris (Groove Lélé, Tikaniki, Danyel Wahro, etc.), the Supergombo crew embarks on a veritable electronic odyssey with accents from Reunion Island. Modular synthesizers and vibrant basses merge with haunting melodies, creating a hypnotic mix of sounds that transports the listener on a captivating sonic journey.
As a starting point for the journey, Étienne Kermerc chose the sounds of West Africa, which his father brought back from his years spent in Africa and which the bassist was keen to confront with his own jazz culture. His traveling companions—Guillaume Pluton and Jérôme Bartholomé on wind instruments, Romai Nassini and Francis Larue on harmonies, David Doris from Réunion on vocals, and Wendlavim Zabsonré from Burkina Faso on drums and other percussion instruments—each contribute to the writing and arrangement of ideas and sounds for the production.
Without a doubt, this music knows how to surprise. It settles in gently, first in your head, then eventually invading your whole body. It’s no surprise, then, that SUPERGOMBO thrives on relentless repetition, sometimes verging on electronic trance. But at no point does this music forget its roots. Nor the intoxication of storytellers.
