Yeni Gayda

With Yeni Gayda, the opening of our 18th season will beat to the rhythm of popular music from Central Anatolia.

Yeni Gayda creates a repertoire based on Greek Rebetiko and music played by the Gypsies of Thrace, reflecting their influences ranging from Alan Vega to Mustafa Kandirali, Rita Abatzi and Moondog.

While the kaval, cello and vocals follow in the spellbinding footsteps of their ancestors, the drums, electronic installation and sound processing bring a more electric, rock-inspired vibe. These melodies, steeped in history, transport listeners on an unexpected journey of nostalgia and intense joy!

With Léonore Grollemund (cello), Léa Maquart (Turkish kaval, ney), Nicolas Poisson (vocals, electric saz, analogue device) and Guilhem Meier (drums, percussion device).
