Société Étrange + Manoir Molle
Release Party
Société Étrange
Société Étrange presents its latest album, Heat, co-produced by Bongo Joe, Carton, and Standard In-Fi. The band explores a unique form of instrumental pop—devoid of structure or choruses—drawn from an imaginary world reminiscent of film soundtracks and narrative electronic music.
Société Étrange, featuring Antoine Bellini, Romain Hervault, and Jonathan Grandcollot, revives the roots of a style of music often categorized as krautrock—a psychedelic fusion of organic machines and instruments. Yet there is no nostalgia, nor any banal or malicious references, in this utterly timeless trance music. Société Étrange crafts a sonic journey for the present.
Manoir Molle
Manoir Molle navigates the slippery slope of computer music with Merovingian nonchalance; his compositions might evoke Baroque music played by an AI on Windows 7. We appreciate the gesture all the more as it glides, beautifully into the ears: these simulations of an acoustic guitar without showy flourishes, these oboes played by NPCs, these AZERTY harpsichords. No excess in form; the approach is simple and whimsical, the calm is regal, the music is alternate-history.
