Ashinoa

Ashinoa, the cream of Lyon’s krautrock scene, is celebrating its new album on the London label Fuzz Club (A Place To Bury Strangers, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, to name but a few)!

Still driven by motorik rhythms and offbeat experimental electronica, this time the band unveils moments of downtempo tranquility. Clarinets, flutes, and saxophones join the party, flirting with touches of psychedelic jazz and 1960s Brazilian music.

Recommended for fans of Stereolab, Cavern Of Anti-Matter, Vanishing Twin, and The Heliocentrics.

Quelque is Romain Vasse’s moniker. You may have already come across him with his electronic pop duo Belvoir or alongside Hannah Miette or François & The Atlas Mountains. He crafts precise lacework whose hypnotic patterns expand, overflow, and twist his style, which draws as much from spiritual jazz as it does from musique concrète. Improvised sequences on expired cassettes and random synthetic suites converse with a familiar clarinet: another legacy through which charged breaths, the moist breath of a kiss, and dissonant spasms that flash from hubbub to shrill high notes follow one another. Velvet butterflies in a broken world.
