Arlt + Gilles Poizat
Arlt's 20th Anniversary • In partnership with Murailles Music
Arlt
Eloïse Decazes and Sing Sing met in 2006; they formed Arlt and immediately began performing all over the place—in France, then across Europe, and later in the U.S. and Japan. They released albums (La langue, Feu la figure, Arlt & Thomas Bonvalet, Deableries, Patate de vivre, Soleil enculé, Turnetable on Objets Disques) and took over art centers (exhibition Les Hauts de Turnepenche at Creux de l’Enfer, in Thiers).
Arlt is 20 years old, and for 20 years, the duo has been experimenting in its curious little patchwork territory, built from primitive and convoluted songs, mysterious sound manipulations, minimal and chaotic theater, and lyrical outbursts that resemble toothaches. Arlt is 20 years old, and to celebrate this strange milestone, they’re giving a slew of concert-performances. Come see Arlt reinvent their repertoire, summon a chaotic host of ghosts, and craft new songs, new burlesque stunts, and new dramas of all kinds right before your eyes. Arlt is 20 years old, and it’s quite a circus.
Gilles Poizat
Somewhere between free music, folk songs, and experimental electronic music, Gilles Poizat delivers a joyful performance, singing and playing the flugelhorn amidst bleeps and bloops. A current member of the Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp, he collaborated with Arlt on the album *Turnetable*.
As a solo artist, Gilles Poizat develops a unique musical style, cultivating his love of melody, balancing acts, and the raw energy of the moment. His latest album was recorded and mixed by Ernest Bergez (Sourdure) and released on vinyl by Carton Records and on cassette by La République des Granges.
