In the early evening, before the trio’s concert, we invite you to discover some images from the Fiore di Fuoco (flowers of fire) exhibition, which brings together Anaïs Tondeur’s phytographic prints and the letters of philosopher Michael Marder, like an intimate correspondence with the plants that heal the polluted soils of Campania (Italy). Elisa Arciniegas’ sound creation extends this dialogue with a musical journey in five scenes, inviting us to listen to and recognize the resilient soul of these plants.

Sentipensantes Experiments

Elisa Arciniegas, a Colombian musician, composer, improviser and producer, is launching and presenting a research project linked to a series of musical encounters exploring improvisation as a method of composition, at the crossroads of physical gesture, intuition and social action to sculpt sound.

Inspired by SENTIPENSAMIENTO — a word originating from Afro-Colombian communities and taken up by Colombian sociologist and activist Orlando Fals Borda — the research is based on an approach where emotion, intuition, rationality and physicality intertwine in a creative and collaborative dynamic. It will also engage with the phenomenology of French philosophers Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Gaston Bachelard, as well as the hybrid cultures of Argentine sociologist Ernesto Garcia Canclini, to conceive of composition as a living act, traversed by cultural confluences — reflecting artistic tensions, adaptations and resistances in the face of stereotypical identities.

For this first concert in the series, she invites Fred Frith, the iconic English guitarist, improviser, and composer, and Xavier Garcia, musician, composer, and improviser in electronic music from the Lyon-based collective ARFI (Association à la recherche d’un folklore imaginaire). Two transcendent careers in independent music creation, which question and cross the boundaries between theory and practice, popularity and erudition, intuition and structure.
