The Centre Sésam announces the third edition of its Faire Corps Festival!

On this occasion, we will host a round table discussion at Le Périscope entitled: “Control and SSV in the yoga community.”

Since the Me Too feminist movement began in the United States in 2017, the issue of gender-based and sexual violence (GSV) has gained visibility. Numerous feminist associations have organized training sessions and rallies, and have put pressure on governments, and attitudes are slowly beginning to change.

The Me Too movement has spread to all areas, from cinema to the media and politics, and the yoga world has not been spared. And yet, although many cases have been reported, yoga remains a refuge for many, victims’ stories struggle to be recognized, and impunity continues. With 10.7 million French people practicing yoga (FNPY 2020 survey), including 7.9 million on a regular basis, we believe it is urgent to examine the mechanisms of control, power relations, violence, and impunity specific to this environment, which is often presented as idyllic.

Here are the guests:

  • Elodie Emery, author
  • Lola Pernot, psychologist
  • Bénédicte de la Taille, trainer in the fight against VSS (violence against women)
  • Elisa Mora, yoga teacher & practitioner who has experienced sectarian abuses

During this round table, we will highlight why the world of yoga is such a fertile environment for relationships of domination and VSS. We will take a moment together to reflect on the system and our own practices, to dispel myths, and to ask ourselves how we can make the yoga community a healthier and safer space for everyone.

Free event – Registration required.
