Ti’kaniki

Lyon, France

Ti’kaniki is a maloya (traditional music from Réunion) group based in Lyon. In existence for nearly 10 years, the group is made up of Creoles and metropolitan musicians from a variety of backgrounds. Their maloya is modern, open to the world but firmly rooted in tradition. From the outset, the group has come together around kabars (open Maloya stages), inviting a host of artists from Reunion (René Lacaille, Davy Sicard, Maya Kamaty, etc.) as well as artists from other traditional music traditions in Africa, the Caribbean and even Europe.

With several albums and international tours to their credit, the group is now a household name in Maloya, including on Réunion.

Since 2023, Ti’kaniki has been working regularly with singer Marsel Philéas, son of Granmoun Lélé and a key figure in Maloya in the east of the island.
