Gaouta

Gaouta is a Moroccan artist based in Casablanca. A multi-instrumentalist, she composes, writes and produces her own cold wave/post-punk music sung in Darija (Moroccan Arabic dialect). On stage, she performs solo with her drum kit. She blends 80s sounds with personal narratives to explore toxic romances and existential crises, in a melancholic, DIY aesthetic. A rising star on the North African underground scene, Gaouta embodies a free, lucid and radically contemporary voice of this new Morocco.
