DOPPLeR

DOPPLeR was formed in Lyon in 1998 when Xavier-Alexandre Amado (bass, vocals) and Yoann Brière (guitar, vocals) met Yann Coste (drums, vocals). Since their first release with S.K. Records in 1999 (EP 51), the band has released a split 45 with NED, “Der hase ist grün “ (S.K. Records, 2001), a second EP ”Star sexual fantasy“ (S.K. Records, 2001), a debut album ”Si nihil aliud “ (S.K. Records/Aere Alieno, dist. XIII Bis, 2004), a split EP with Marvin (S.K. Records, 2005), and a second album, ”Songs to defy” (S.K. Records/HAK Lofi records, dist. Atypeek, 2008), recorded at Black Box studio with Peter Deimel.
The band built a solid live reputation through some 200 concerts in France and Europe (booking Jarring Effects, then Jerkov), with Sébastien Guichard aka La Fraise on sound (Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamps, L’Etrangleuse…) and Nicolas Bernollin on lighting (Igorr, Amen Ra, etc.), sharing the stage with bands as diverse as Sleeppers, Basement, Papier Tigre, Pneu, Marvin, Young Gods, Cheval De Frise, Shipping News, Brain Damage, Fishbone, Ezekiel, Lofofora, Black Heart Procession, Unsane, Psykup, Alec Empire, Mule Jenny, Cannibale, Birds In Row, A Place To Bury Strangers, among others…
DOPPLeR took a break in 2010 and reformed in 2020 to celebrate the “10th anniversary of his death” with a memorable concert at the Ninkasi Kao in Lyon in front of nearly 400 people from all over France. This was followed by a twenty-date tour (booked by Premier Jour) following the reissue of their first two albums on vinyl by the Bigoût Record label. Delighted by the enthusiastic reception of an enthusiastic, loyal and renewed audience despite ten years of inactivity, they set about writing a new album and naturally renewed their collaboration with Peter Deimel, recording an LP entitled “Pourquoi ce disque?” at Black Box studio in June 2025, with artwork by Gérald Tournier of Pangram graphic design.
