Canari Gros Calibre + Romain De Ferron
JOKARI cancellation
PROGRAMME CHANGE · We regret to inform you that, due to circumstances beyond our control, JOKARI’s concert has been cancelled. Romain de Ferron will perform instead, opening the evening before Canari Gros Calibre’s concert.
Canari Gros Calibre
Canari Gros Calibre is a trio – detuned synths, guitars that aren’t always quite in tune, and a voice that sounds like it’s trying to imitate either David Byrne or Joe Dassin – whose songs always seem on the verge of falling apart, yet somehow manage to hold together. Not that they really have a choice. Their latest album, Emporter les restes, has just been released on the Musique Muscle and Fabliau labels.
Romain De Ferron
Between minimalist gestures and orchestral forms, Romain de Ferron crafts soundscapes using electronics and samples of acoustic instruments: organs, strings, brass and voices. Rather than faithfully reproducing these instruments or their playing techniques, he transforms these familiar sounds into something both recognizable and impossible.
His latest album moves somewhere between electronic music, orchestral composition, artificial gardens and ceremonies without a place. Music from a parallel world.
An active member of numerous bands featuring exciting line-ups (from Balladur to Vinci, via Omertà and Sacré Numéro, he has collaborated with Amédée de Murcia, Florence Giroud, Jérémie Sauvage, Mathieu Tilly, Pierre Bujeau, Romain Hervault and Ernest Bergez, fellow musicians from Somaticae, France and Tanz Mein Herz), Romain de Ferron is a French multi-instrumentalist who explores the worlds of repetition, counterpoint and continuous sounds.
