Zewditou Yohannes

Zewditou Yohannes is an Ethiopian singer in the Azmarie tradition (Ethiopian urban bards). She has a powerful, husky and spellbinding voice, which can be heard on several tracks from the famous ‘Ethiopiques’ series. Although she carries on the tradition, Zewditou is a woman of her time and also composes her own songs. She is also a formidable specialist in Eskista dance (a popular trance dance in Ethiopia).
