For five years, wabi-sabi tapes has been exploring the diverse trajectories of ambient music. From hypnotic drone to free jazz, via musique concrète, algorithmic generation and reinterpretations of traditional repertoires, the label compiles artistic visions that seek an ephemeral balance in the impulsiveness of instrumental gesture. To mark this anniversary, it is an opportunity to bring together those who have paved the way.

Through poetic naturalism, Roxane Métayer combines the physicality of her violin with the lively sounds of non-humans. Katya Shirshkova and Yurii Kuznetsov, Russian artists in exile, develop a minimalist approach to voice and field recordings in pieces with jagged dimensions. Finally, the deep drones refined by MTUA seek to contain their abrasive intensities in a geometry that revolves around itself.
