The Separatist Party

The Separatist Party, American drummer Mike Reed‘s new sextet, fuses Chicago’s current hybrid sound with a wide range of styles and influences. The Separatist Party features cornet player Ben LaMar Gay, the pyschedelic trio Bitchin’ Bajas and poet and singer Marvin Tate. A music that echoes Bobby Womack or Gil Scott-Heron, resolutely rooted in groove.
