Yann Ponthus

After several years spent exploring in the shadows, Yann Ponthus will unveil his first solo project in the fall of 2024 during a debut concert at Le Périscope in Lyon.

A resolutely dark and cinematic sound, blending textures of modular synthesizers, guitar, and expansive effects, constantly blurring the boundaries between dream and reality. Originally from a rock background, then inspired by electronic music genres upon discovering synthesis (synthpop, IDM, ambient), he orchestrates misty soundscapes, scenes at the heart of which unfolds a troubled, ghostly voice.

Drawing inspiration from both surrealism and modern French chanson (with Alain Bashung as a leading figure, followed by Bertrand Belin and Feu! Chatterton), the lyrics depict an intimate and existentialist reflection on the themes of time, life, and emotions, woven through intricate metaphors. Alone on stage, he tackles his lyrics head-on, while sculpting the soundscape with the instruments around him, during an immersive sonic journey.
