Brìghde Chaimbeul

A prodigious player of the small Scottish bagpipes – the softer, more emotive cousin of the famous Highland bagpipes – Scottish musician Brìghde Chaimbeul has taken her instrument to the world stage, producing hypnotic, mystical and moving melodies that are captivating an ever-growing audience. A regular award winner (BBC Young Folk Award; BBC Horizons Award; SAY Award nominee), she also has a wide range of collaborators (including saxophonist Colin Stetson on the album Carry Them With Us and musicians Caroline Polachek and Gruff Rhys). But ultimately, it is her music that speaks for itself. Haunting, spellbinding, breathtaking, this artist with an open ear and discreet virtuosity transforms and creates new definitions of Scottish folk music in the 21st century.
