Solo for percussion, voice, small electronic devices and electric fireflies

Alexis Degrenier continues his work with a new creation for percussion, voice, electronic devices and small reactive lights. This new cycle, also conceived as the basis for a future album, extends his research into the obstructed body, sonic affects, and the relationship between gesture and technology.

Inspired in particular by Dürer’s Melencolia I, the solo explores melancholy as a vital force: a tension between light and shadow, presence and absence, precision and overflow. Prepared percussion, organelle, transducers, fragmented voice and micro-sounds come together in a fragile, ever-shifting setup, where the body becomes extended, saturated and traversed.

Combining sonic experimentation with philosophical reflection, this performance explores rupture, transformation, and the ability of affect to become a creative energy, revealing unexpected forms of clarity in a journey through a remarkably accomplished sonic world… (Jérôme Nylon)
