AMG + Leo Geller 4tet + La Grande Jam
To bring this fourth edition of RÉCIF to a close in style, Le Périscope is offering a unique evening event on Saturday, April 18, 2026. It will open with two concerts: Leo Geller 4tet at 7 p.m. followed by AMG at 9 p.m., two groups that are very active on the emerging jazz scene, both locally and in Paris. It will then continue with La Grande Jam, which we believe is the best way to celebrate and bring this fourth edition to a close together.
LA GRANDE JAM – 10 p.m.
A big jam session open to all jazz musicians, in a friendly atmosphere and spirit of goodwill, launched and hosted by the Leo Geller 4tet and AMG. Come and play your instruments, the stage is yours and the night will be long!
According to the ghosts that haunt our walls, the last impromptu jam session at Le Périscope was over a decade ago. This is rather surprising for a place of artistic exchange like ours, where dozens of musicians come together every week in our studios and on our stages.
As is often the case, if you don’t make it happen, it never will. So what better way to end the festival—with its wave of musicians from here and elsewhere—than to revive this dormant tradition?
AMG – 9 p.m.
A young Parisian band on the rise, AMG is establishing itself as one of the revelations of contemporary jazz. Heirs to Coltrane, McCoy Tyner and Pharoah Sanders, Antoine Fleury (piano), Keïta Janota (saxophones), Anthony Jouravsky (double bass) and Mailo Rakotonanahary (drums) combine virtuosity and intensity to offer music that is sophisticated enough to win over jazz aficionados, yet free and inventive enough to appeal beyond the circle of insiders.
After AMG Extended and Gate 01 – Live at Sunside, both critically acclaimed, and their victory at the 2025 La Défense National Jazz Competition, AMG confirms its status as a must-see band. For France Inter, their acronym sums up ‘the future of jazz in three letters’.
LEO GELLER 4TET – 7 p.m.
Leo Geller is part of a new generation of musicians who are very active on the emerging French scene! A guitarist, composer, and tireless source of energy, he organizes the “Jams Jazz à Lio” at La Pente (Lyon 1st arrondissement), a bi-monthly gathering that has become a must for the Lyon community.
With his Leo Geller 4tet project, he is joined by Jérémie Lucchese (tenor saxophone), Fanny Bouteiller (double bass), and Malo Thiery (drums). The quartet takes the audience on a journey to the four corners of a mixed jazz style. Between psychedelic guitar, swaying rhythms, and vibrant saxophone flights, the group brings together a veritable melting pot of influences, from John Coltrane to Kurt Rosenwinkel, from Fela Kuti to the Motian/Lovano/Frisell trio. It is free music where every note is played with heart and guts.
The project is a winner of JazzContreBand and the Jazz à Oloron Festival, confirming the momentum and recognition that are now propelling the Leo Geller 4tet onto the contemporary jazz scene.
