PÉRI ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION · 19 years!
19 years, 19 candles, our 19th snub to the Festival of Lights and a massive party in fairground style!
This year, for our birthday, we’re burying our dear Péri under an avalanche of celebrations, from mid-afternoon until late into the night! We’re taking the shaker from the friends who keep the association going, adding some planned activities and some unplanned ones, and the result is an evening that’s set to be a joyful shambles.
On the programme (more details on timings to follow):
- From 4 pm: quirky games and a wide variety of stalls
- Guided tour of a cabinet of sonic curiosities: more info to follow
- Pop-up concert by the Marcel Frontale brass band: the twenty or so groove-loving troublemakers who make up our wildly eccentric amateur brass band
- Raffle with dubious prizes to be won
- Concert by Philippe Lavigne Philippe: Philippe is a literature teacher, but it’s through music that he escapes. How can he combine the two? By delivering a brilliant lesson on the importance of prosody. The idea is simple: to cover French songs by shifting the lyrics by one syllable, whilst keeping the original melody. He sings these shifted lyrics to an instrumental backing worthy of the best of the worst karaoke sessions.
- DJ set by Célia (please specify musical style and full name)
- And also: surprise events throughout the evening (we won’t say any more – you can trust us)
