Talweg

I'm free · Free concert

Avec Alice Perret (piano, violon alto), Lucas Hercberg (contrebasse), Joséphine Besançon (clarinettes), Marie Nachury (voix), Didier Ithursarry (accordéon).

This special concert will be presented following a three-day creative residency on stage at Le Périscope:

Inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke’s Notes on the Melody of Things, TALWEG explores the links between poetry, composition and improvisation. Through a repertoire of original works, the quintet weaves together poetry and improvisation, whilst exploring specific timbres and playing techniques.

Without a drummer, the five musicians build a rhythmic texture, driven by the complementary nature of their instruments and the interplay of polyrhythms. Drawing on the writings of poets such as Emily Dickinson, Henri Michaux and Marina Tsvetaeva, the compositions are centred primarily on the poetry of Marie Nachury, who is also the group’s vocalist.

Between tracks, a series of improvised dialogues develops between two musicians, extending, disrupting or reinventing the musical fabric. These transitions are always fresh, highlighting the performers’ more personal expression and showcasing their ability to compose spontaneously as a duo.
