Sioule

Sioule is a band that perpetuates a musical tradition from the Massif Central region, adding modern elements and influences from funk and psychedelic music.
The music they produce reflects the experiences of its founder, guitarist and composer Francis Larue. Born in rural Auvergne, immersed in a tradition of local music and dance, but also uprooted, urbanized, illustrating a certain rural exodus and having made a career in another musical field, that of African-American music, particularly dance music, music that “grooves,” such as funk.
As leader of the group Cissy Street, emblematic of jazz funk in France (with over 2 million plays on Spotify and having played at more than 30 jazz festivals in France), he envisions a collaboration between the group’s musicians, who are relentless groovers, and traditional musicians: Camille Stimbre (violin) and Léon Ollivier (diatonic accordion), members of the group Bargainatt, which has played throughout Europe.
From this unlikely encounter emerges a completely homogeneous sound, which does not seem to be the result of a mixture but rather that of a group united by strong bonds and similar practices. Driven by an identical energy that makes you want to dance, the musicians seem to play a kind of funk straight out of the Auvergne mountains, as if it were another form of traditional music.
