Nina Garcia

Since 2015, Nina Garcia has been conducting research and creating work around the electric guitar, halfway between improvised music and noise. Her setup is minimal: a guitar, a pedal, and an amp, with which she shapes the sound and delves into chaos to bring out the unheard.

Few types of music today give the impression of sounding like a black hole as much as Nina Garcia’s. Time stretches out within it and specters crackle like frost. Yet it burns you. With her guitar, pedals, found objects as picks, and piezo microphone in hand, she plays both her instrument and the space around her. Between feedback, silences, and sonic chaos, suspended and delicate moments emerge at the heart of a sound performance that becomes physical.

With her deconstructed instrumental practice, Nina Garcia positions herself at the crossroads of experimental, noise, and electronic music, leading her to perform in various hybrid venues and contexts.
