Yalla Miku

After a critically acclaimed debut album in 2023 and numerous tours across Europe, Yalla Miku returns with “2,” a new opus that further affirms their uniqueness. Based in Geneva, the group has evolved with a revamped lineup—not as a change, but as the natural continuation of a project conceived from the outset as a space for encounters, circulation, and musical reinvention. Between post-kraut, mutant folklore, and electronic trance, Yalla Miku continues to create a dialogue between the traditions of the Horn of Africa and the freest experiments of the Geneva underground. Samuel Ades Tesfagergsh’s krar riffs, Louise Knobil’s sculptural bass, Cyril Bondi’s nervous percussion, Emma Souharce’s machines, and Cyril Yeterian’s modified banjo weave a dense, collective soundscape full of breaks and pulsations. Here, there is no smooth fusion or frozen folklore: “2” is an interplanetary journey where multiple voices overlap, clash, or complement each other. It is music of otherness, constructed as a shared space where each timbre retains its roughness. With this second album, Yalla Miku delves deeper into its aesthetic: a raw, militant, unclassifiable sound—for curious ears and open hearts.
