It’s crazy, but it makes perfect sense. Although they are still in the dark, the five artists know that they will soon be a new ensemble, a new group, Across The Bridge.
Frenchman Paul Wacrenier: ‘I wanted a “classic” jazz formation, to get straight to the point, to allow the instruments to play their traditional roles.’ And the North Americans, for their part, add in unison: ‘One of the great joys of improvised music lies in the new relationships that are forged through sound and that transform into lasting human bonds.’ So, what is the unknown? Their ‘horizon of expectation’, ours, yours?
