The effects of migration and mobility [...]
Mobility is in integral part of the regular work of life of artists and professionals. Not only physical but also virtual. In the recent years possibilities of the mobility of artists and professionals have increased and the most impediments have been surpassed. The resulting connections are extremely important for artists, festivals and networks. The main practical reasons are: long running cultural recognition, economic reasons (e.g. enlarging the artistic market and increasing the number of consumers) and a common creative approach which makes it easier to work in terms of wider European global processes. Small markets are insignificant for the critical development of society, culture, and the quality of life. That’s why exchange of creativity and information is imperative.
Unknown places and environments and their local people have a great influence on artistic creation. It’s an inspiring experience with lots of challenges which certainly influences future work. The mobility of artists and cultural professionals is one the preconditions for the development of the creative potentials in every contemporary society - so to say creative society. It’s a source of learning and enrichment that empowers and leads to project building. These cooperations have always been representing a unique opportunity for stimulation of creative potentials and providing a favorable environment for building cultural bridges. These spaces are fundamental for artist to express themselves.
It’s also a platform where democracy is active and where artists and professionals as actors of change meet, discuss and learn from each other. It keeps your mind open and sharpens your senses. Culture is the first democratic tool.
Festivals and networks are important because they help new ideas and partnerships to develop and do also arrange new projects. Mobility is productive.
Streaming, internet and a greater virtual mobility in general are bringing new music and musicians to contribute to contemporary Jazz or including elements of Jazz in different types of genres. For instance Electronic artists (due to new technical opportunities) are now able to play and react immediately which opens the possibility for them to improvise. New projects combining Electronics with live instruments and playing free are one outcome of these new perspectives and possibilities on traditional methods.
Even in its early days Jazz in several ways was influenced by different types of music. Today it’s also influenced by a new way people use and interact with music.
